Gazprom maintains deliveries to domestic market unchanged in 6M 2022, production down 9%, shipments to China up 63%

MOSCOW. July 1 (Interfax) - Gazprom produced 238.4 billion cubic meters of gas in January-June 2022, according to preliminary data, which is 8.6% (22.4 billion cubic meters) less than last year, the company said.

The company's deliveries from the gas transportation system to the domestic market are at the same level as last year.

Exports to non-FSU countries amounted to 68.9 billion cubic meters - 31% (31 billion cubic meters) less than in the same period of 2021. Gazprom supplies gas in accordance with confirmed requests.

Gas exports to China via the Power of Siberia pipeline under the bilateral long-term contract between Gazprom and CNPC are growing. Russian pipeline gas deliveries to China grew by 63.4% in the first six months of 2022. According to the company's quarterly report, in the first six months of 2021, Russia's pipeline gas supplies to China totaled 4.619 billion cubic meters. As such, pipeline deliveries in 6M 2022 to China amounted to 7.5 billion cubic meters of gas.

According to Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE), Gazprom said that on June 29, 31.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas was injected into European underground storage facilities. To achieve a level of UGS injection similar to that at the beginning of the 2019/2020 withdrawal season, companies will have to pump another 40.5 billion cubic meters of gas. "Global gas consumption in 6M 2022, according to the first preliminary estimate, decreased by 24 billion cubic meters relative to H1 2021. And gas consumption in the 27 countries of the European Union decreased by 27 billion cubic meters during the same period. Thus, the decline in gas demand in the EU was a key factor in the reduction of global consumption," the company said.
