Rama P. White, age 89, passed away on March 12, 2025.
She was born Aug. 30, 1935, in Sampson County, N.C., to Roy D. and Clara B. Page.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, brother, Azor I. Page; and sisters, Eunice P. Drum, Margaret P. (Alma) Fulcher and Edna P. Pettiway.
She is survived by two wonderful daughters, Abbe W. McLane (Lowell), of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and A. Lorraine White, of Fuquay Varina, N.C. Other survivors include grandchildren, Stephanie M. Haithcock (Tyler) of Clayton, N.C., Erin M. Rose of Agawam, Mass., and Ryan P. McLane (Taylor) of Southwick, Mass.; seven great-grandchildren, Zane Haithcock, Kayelin Haithcock, Rylie Rose, Abbie Rose, Ryan McLane Jr., Owen McLane and Grace McLane; and nephews, Barry P. Drum and Chuck L. Scott.
She was employed by a land developer, Gene Jackson, for most of her working career. Rama continued working part time through her golden years for certified financial planner, Terry Tait, retiring at age 73 to help care for her sister, Alma Fulcher. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church where she attended regularly and which she loved dearly. For many years she played piano and organ in local churches. She loved ballroom dancing, music, sang in chapel choir, and will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family, as well as speaking her mind.
A graduate of New Bern Central High School in 1953, Rama lived locally for several years. Later in life and over a 22-year span, Rama traveled extensively with her sister, Alma Fulcher.
There will be a graveside service at Greenleaf Memorial Cemetery on April 22 at 11 a.m.
