Photos of House Enrollment Ceremony for H.R. 1042

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Senator John Barrasso (R-WY) joined Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Representatives Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA) and Jeff Duncan (R-SC), at an enrollment ceremony for H.R. 1042, legislation to ban Russian uranium imports into the United States. Following the enrollment ceremony, H.R. 1042 will head to the President’s desk. The Senate passed H.R. 1042 by unanimous consent last Tuesday.

Cathy McMorris Rodgers, chair of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, introduced H.R. 1042 on February 14, 2023. Senator John Barrasso, ranking member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, introduced companion legislation S. 763 on March 9, 2023. The House passed H.R. 1042 by voice vote on December 11, 2023.

Today, ranking member Barrasso spoke about the legislation on the Senate floor.

“America is finally starting to take back our nuclear energy security as well as our energy future,” said Barrasso. “Wyoming is ready to power American reactors with Wyoming nuclear fuel.”
